Why the Fed?

What has always attracted me to the Bank is its holistic view of the financial sector. As a central bank, we have a complete view of how the financial markets work. No matter what business area, serving the financial community is at our core.

My Responsibilities

I oversee the accounting team and risk management responsibilities for International Treasury Services. On a daily basis, I manage the funding, reconcilement and exception processing of multi-million dollar international payments in 60 currencies for customers in 150 countries worldwide, including emerging markets. I also manage our risk management program, which includes the creation and implementation of various analytical tools.

Challenges and Rewards of My Job

The greatest challenge is maintaining an operational environment focused on process excellence and the voice of the customer.

What has been most fulfilling is twofold. First is managing and providing leadership within a small, fast-paced and constantly changing operational environment. Second is the knowledge I have gained about payment systems and assessing its risks, both as a senior business analyst in Electronic Payments and currently as staff director in International Treasury Services.

How Is the Fed Unique?
The Federal Reserve is the only institution that I know of which promotes career development across business lines. In my seven years at the Bank, I have served in various capacities within Research, Bank Supervision and Financial Services. Each one of my assignments has not only enriched my knowledge of the Bank but has made me a stronger central banker.
